Bella Hadid Responds to The Weeknd Kissing at Coachella Rumors

Bella Hadid got an all-important news update from E!‘s Instagram: Apparently, she and her ex-boyfriend The Weeknd were allegedly seen “kissing all night” at a Coachella party this past weekend. So she commented on the rumor in a cheeky way, writing “it wasn’t me” with the shrug emoji and detective emoji. E! saw it as a possible denial though to other fans, it seemed less serious and more like a funny reference to Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me.”

Considering E! reported that Hadid and The Weeknd have been secretly seeing each other, this kind of ambiguous response makes sense. Hadid wasn’t going to be the type to be like “YES I DID KISS HIM ALL NIGHT”—partly because E! reported they weren’t official, partly because The Weeknd was seen being affectionate with Justin Bieber’s ex Chantel Jeffries last weekend too.

E!‘s source claimed, “Bella never really lost feeling for Abel [Tesfaye, The Weeknd’s real name] and had hope they would eventually get back together. [They’re] secretly seeing each other recently [but] are not official.” The Weeknd is “playing the field” and “openly dating” other women while Hadid “wants to be exclusive.”

And, judging by the way The Weeknd and Hadid have used social media in the past, when they are official—if they become official—they wouldn’t confirm with an Instagram comment on a news outlet’s Instagram. The Weeknd and Hadid would first follow each other (they don’t right now), like a post on the other’s account (they haven’t lately), post an Instagram story of the other, and then, when they are really confident in their couple status, post that permanent-grid Instagram on both their accounts. Slow, steady, and happening directly on their own social media pages.
